Cement Treated Base (CTB) is a mixture of aggregate material and/or granular soils combined with measured amounts of cement and water that hardens after compaction and curing to form a durable paving material.
Properly engineered CTB can distribute loads over a wider area. Road Worx, Inc. uses this because it reduces the stresses on the sub-grade and acts as the load-carrying element of a flexible pavement or a subbase for concrete. It resists rain, freezing, and other weather damage, all the while gaining strength with age even under traffic. This reserve strength accounts in part for CTB’s excellent performance.
